UW-ESS Advising
ESS Advising

If you would like to meet with an academic adviser in Earth and Space Sciences (ESS), please review information about our degrees and option areas and then, contact an adviser to schedule an appointment.

Advisers set aside an hour for initial advising appointments so that there is plenty of time to get to know you and to answer your questions. If you want to declare ESS during this first appointment, the adviser will review your degree audit with you and help you draft a degree plan. After this appointment, you may schedule advising appointments or contact your adviser as needed. Please note: Advisers cannot guarantee that they will be available should you drop by their office so please email or call ahead.

Once you have declared ESS, we will add you to the undergraduate email list so you will receive announcements about new courses, scholarships and fellowships, job openings, and more. A couple of quarters before you plan to graduate, you should plan to schedule an appointment to complete your graduation application. At this time, you will be given information about the ESS Graduation Celebration held in June on Saturday morning before the UW Graduation Ceremony at Husky Stadium. We will be in close contact with you in your last couple of quarters to update you on the ESS Graduation Celebration and to find out what plans you have made following graduation.

If you have any questions, please email advising@ess.washington.edu.
