Areas of Interest:
Aeronomy, Optics
Research Group:
Space and Planetary Physics
Education:
Ph.D., University of
Rochester,
1962
Current Research:
Global circulation dynamics of, but not limited to, the Earth's upper atmosphere.
The experimental investigations consist of optical remote-sensing using very
high-resolution spectroscopic techniques, while the analysis and interpretation
include modeling methods developed with colleagues. At present, operating ground-based
observing stations are located at South Pole, Antarctica, Mt. John, New Zealand,
and Poker Flat, Alaska. The aeronomic investigations are, in turn, supported
by both theoretical and laboratory studies of novel optical interference devices.
